Athena Hack is an all-female hackathon, for anyone aged 18+ who identifies as female/non-binary, supporting Plastic Oceans UK to help solve one of the biggest environmental issues around.

It is an exciting experience organised by ShowCode as an initiative to champion female technologists and focus their skills to help solve one of the biggest environmental issues around with the power of Tech!

Who can take part? 

 

  • To be part of the Hackathon you must be aged 18+ old and identify as female/non-binary. 
  • Take part if you are a creative thinker or you like being involved with great ideas. 
  • Do you love technology? If technology is one of your passions then join Athena Hack! 
  • If you enjoy graphic design and creation then you are also welcome.
How to take part?

 

  • Join as a University team and compete to win our coveted University Champion crown!
  • Bring your colleagues and compete as a company team to show your dominance. 
  • Gather your friends and compete at Athena Hack as your own independent team! 
  • Don't have a team yet? Sign up and acquire your squad on the day to show what you have got!
The Challenge 

 

The challenge is to use your skills to create an idea that will help solve the plastic crisis that is currently plaguing the world in support of Plastic Oceans UK. 

Over the course of 2 days, you will work in teams of 5 to develop an app, digital demonstration or digital platform that showcases your novel ideas, before pitching your idea to a team of judges.
